I added up the date today and it really did not make any sense, that was until I remembered this tale.

Do you remember the story The Emperor’s New Clothes” about two weavers who promise an Emperor a new suit of clothes that is invisible to those who are unfit for their positions, stupid, or incompetent. When the Emperor parades before his subjects in his new clothes, no one dares to say that he is naked until a child cries out, “But he isn’t wearing anything at all!”

Today I attended an event which is all fairness was good, however, one or two speakers really do fit the bill above. We can’t all have the same opinion about workshop content, but I truly believe the standard of teaching at the UK Tarot Conference has spoilt me for anything else.   The issue I have with some speakers is that as an audience member there is no right to challenge if you strongly disagree or would like some clarity on a comment.    So, to the healer who claims to have cured many, including a person with Cerebral Palsy, a man in a wheel chair suddenly could walk, the blind person regaining sight after a visit with him, forgive me if I am somewhat doubtful that the equivalent of Jesus was reincarnated in California, or is that just me.   To the man that advocates taking hallucinating drugs, no it is not ok on any level, yes I agree the pharmaceutical are making money out of misery, but in my opinion, any drug has the capacity to damage lives regardless of how long it takes to boil the leaves.

Amongst all of this a little treasure took to the stage, Sergio Magaña’s talk on The Toltec Secret: Dreaming Practices of the Ancient Mexicans and led us through the practice of how to do this.   This is what I want from a workshop, not listening to someone drone on about how wonderful they are, I want to learn, be inspired and leave the building excited and elated.  Thank God for him because he made my day.
