We woke to the tragic news that Robin Williams had taken his life. He was a funny, talented man, I have loved his work ever since the early days of Mork & Mindy, how sad that he battled so many demons in his life, until finally depression won. I can’t imagine what it must feel like to have days so dark that you cannot imagine living. Depression is a silent enemy, a crippling illness to those who suffer. I am thankful that this is not something I have ever experienced. Of course we all have our dark or off days, but to get to a point where you no longer can see a light at the end of the tunnel and make the decision to end it all must be a place of such deep despair.
How apt that today is The Star, this is the beautiful tribute shared by his daughter
“You – you alone will have the stars as no one else has them…In one of the stars I shall be living. In one of them I shall be laughing. And so it will be as if all the stars were laughing, when you look at the sky at night…You – only you – will have stars that can laugh.”
― Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, El Principito
